Job Summary:
As a "Systems Engineer" you are responsible for leading pre-sales technical support engagements when selling products and Services to existing customers and prospects.
You will utilize your excellent technical, business and relationship-building skills to work with other vendors, partners, and sales teams to ensure that optimum solutions are provided to customers.
In this position you will work closely with business partners and systems integrators.
You will regularly work with cross functional peers to develop best practice guidelines, white papers and technical reports.
Essential Functions:
The essential responsibilities of a Systems Engineer in the Named Accounts are to work with the Business sales team and partner sales teams, to support customers in pre-sales and post sales situations, and to work effectively across functions with other business employees in Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and Development areas.
A key element to my client's business success is having a well-developed and thriving Partner network, and as a Systems Engineer you will work closely with your colleagues.
Specific characteristics of the Systems Engineer in the Names Accounts job role:
-Proactively influence customer needs and requirements from both a technical and business perspective.
-Arrange customer meetings independently of an account manager and be able to present business value proposition to all levels within the business.
-Identify key account stakeholders and decision makers and develop specific account plans based on stakeholder job function, eg from SysAdmin through to CEO.
-Drive customer demand towards Vendor products, focusing on Datacentre transformation.
-Creation of a solution design, fit for purpose, based upon a customer's requirements, including compelling technical and business reasoning for choosing my client.
-Become a trusted advisor for the client, customers, prospects, and partners.
-Become an area subject matter expert and go-to person.
-Drive acceptance criteria for and fully manage "try-and-buy" / POC / evaluation projects.
-Work with relevant sales teams to respond to RFP's.
-Work with relevant sales teams to drive unsolicited proposals and technical reports into existing customers and prospects.
-Develop and deliver technical and business value seminars to colleagues within the company and our partner community, and assist in the on-going development of both technical teams.
-Provide technical consultation and disseminate product information to the sales and technical teams on a regular basis.
-Contribute to, or own, best practice guidelines, white papers and technical reports.
Requirements:
-Excellent, demonstrable written and verbal communication skills.
-Excellent, demonstrable interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
-Demonstrable technical skills in the following areas:
oNetwork architecture (eg 10Gb / Nexus / WAN / vLAN)
oDatacentre virtualization (eg x86 / Citrix / HyperV / VMWare / LPARs)
oDatacentre consolidation and transformation
oStorage competitive landscape
oIndustry competitive landscape (eg Microsoft / IBM / HP)
-Proven account management experience. Demonstrable experience of driving sales campaigns in to key customer accounts.
-Proven experience of influencing senior level staff in customers.
-Demonstrable aptitude for adopting and driving new technologies into a customer environment.
-Creative approach to problem solving.
-Flexibility to travel to customer sites as necessary.
-An attitude for winning.
-Enthusiasm for technology and ability to transmit excitement about technology when selling
-Ability to clearly articulate and communicate technical concepts and solutions using appropriate mediums, eg powerpoint, whiteboarding.
-Act as a facilitator in internal and external meetings and technical workshops.
Responsibility and Interaction:
-You will apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving complex enterprise and datacenter problems.
-You will be responsible for a specific set of named customers (typically 20-30).aligned to specific sales representatives (typically 2).
-You will be able to demonstrate proactive interaction with sales teams
Education & Experience:
-Demonstrable account experience and sales aptitude in a technical pre-sales role.
-Demonstrable business and financial acumen.
-Experience of selling other vendor storage is preferable.
-A relevant degree or equivalent in Mathematics, Engineering, Science or similar subject is required.
