Senior Cisco Network and Security Engineer

My client a leading IT Managed Services Provider requires Senior Cisco Network and Security Engineer to be based in Gateshead to ensure that all Internal Data Centre and Customer network support and services are managed and maintained to a high standard.

Responsibilities:
- Ownership, diagnosis and resolution of faults and problems in both hardware and software.
- Maintaining and advising network security.
- Ensuring SLAs are met.
- Implementation of network and security solutions working from low level designs.
- Maintaining a Data Centre network and security platform.
- Support, configuration, management of the client network and security solutions.
- Provide 2n/3rd line support: analyses and provision of solutions to problems, estimate the scope and time for resolution, liaise with Service Desk to inform clients on status of resolution.
- Liaise with 3rd party vendors for support escalations and troubleshooting.
- Update and provide documentation where required including network diagrams.
- Training to others when required.
- Have a good understanding of managed service products.
- Knowledge of ITIL practices and ISO27001 and PCI DSS.

Requirements:
- Essential - 1 industry qualification or equivalent experience CCSP/CCNP.
- Cisco Routers/Switches, Cisco Firewalls. Cisco Load balancing Â- Advantageous.
- Good understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, spanning tree, OSPF, BGP, SNMP, DNS and CIDR.
- Problem solving & analytical skills, with a passion for increasing knowledge.
- Self motivated & enjoys working in a busy customer oriented environment

- Focused on Root Cause Analysis
- Understanding of perimeter solutions in the areas of mail, URL and AV filtering
Knowledge of IDS, ISA, RSA Secure ID administration, TACACS, Cisco CSS, ACE layer 3 and 7 load balancing and UNIX based operating systems are advantageous

Location: Gateshead

Salary: £45,000 plus Excellent Benefits
