Description		Excellent opportunity for CV-enhancing role in the South East (commutable from London, Kent and Essex) on a permanent, or temporary to permanent basis. You will be the Senior Solicitor in the small local authority legal team, deputising for the Head of Service, managing the legal team on a day-to-day basis. Casework responsibility for high-level contracts, planning and prosecutions matters alongside managerial responsibilities. The post-holder will: - Be responsible for advising on and drafting contracts of all values � mainly contracts for services, including consultancy contracts, framework arrangements and call-offs under those arrangements, supplies contracts, service level agreements, partnership and joint venture agreements, and grants agreements. Candidates need working knowledge of the UK and EU procurement rules. - Advise at all levels (including Members and at formal meetings) on all aspects of the law relating principally to Town and Country Planning and environmental law. - Be responsible for drafting enforcement notices and undertaking all legal action to secure compliance as may be necessary. - Appear in the Magistrates' Court on prosecutions and at public inquiries as instructed by the Head of Service and to appear in the County Court as instructed. - Advise on local government law in general when required. - Will be a UK qualified solicitor. The position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced solicitor looking to take the next step on the local government career ladder. The management experience could also lead up to a more senior position within the council, which will be available within the next 12 months.
