Health, Safety & Environmental Officer / HSE Officer
£Competitive salary
Based in Shipley, West Yorkshire
Our client is a leading name in the design and manufacture of high performance heat exchange units and cooling modules.
Reporting to the Head of Human Resources the successful candidate will have responsibility of running the company Health, Safety and Environmental Systems. This is a key role within a fast paced manufacturing environment ensuring compliance with company policies, practices, and relevant legislation via promoting and developing effective working relationships at all levels within the business. The position will act as main contact on site to provide advice, guidance and assistance to management in the implementation of company policies and systems to achievement required standards.
The postholder will have direct responsibility for maintaining company HSE management systems and ensuring the requirements for ISO14001 are achieved. Enforcement of Health, Safety and Environmental policies and practices across site is expected via inspections/audits, Risk Assessments, correct incident investigation and prioritisation of remedial actions with supervision and management to ensure compliance.
Essential skills and knowledge
• Chartered Member of IOSH or a minimum of NEBOSH diploma
• Experience of ISO14001
• Strong technical writing, along with presenting and influencing skills.
• 2 years experience in a similar role preferably within the manufacturing industry.
• Appropriate understanding and knowledge of Health and Safety legislation especially in relation to noise, CoSHH, Fire regs and Local Exhaust Ventilation legislation and regulation within a manufacturing environment.- knowledge of power press regulations would be an advantage.
• HSE risk assessments and audits.
• Knowledge of environmental legislation especially in relation to Atmospheric Emissions, Water Discharges, Packaging Regulations and Hazardous Waste regulations (including EWC). Knowledge of LEV testing, pump sampling, effluent monitoring and noise monitoring.
Communication skills; as will be liaising with the HSE, Local Council, insurance companies and contractors, and other bodies as required.
