Job Overview: My client, a manufacturer of blow moulded containers (up to 230 ltr) in a fast cycling environment is seeking to recruit a Blow Moulding Technician who can add technical expertise to the production facility. Supporting the Manager this role will be all encompassing to include new product introduction, tooling trials and process optimization/troubleshooting.

This position requires a self motivated individual, with strong interpersonal skills but also capable of working well as part of a team.

Detailed Specification:

Technical:
• React to day-day production issues
• Active participation in scrap reduction activities
• Ensure correct tool is collected from stored location, and safely transported to the machine, following all safety procedures.
• Hang/locate tool into press, carry out all necessary ancillary connections to pipe work, heater control units, coolers etc.
• Make any necessary adjustments to ancillary equipment e.g.: Robot/Robot head, conveyor, cutters, trepanner etc.
• Ensure machine bed and surrounding area is clean and clear prior to commencing production run and at start of each shift.
• Produce a full moulding to the required quality standard and costed cycle time. Liaise with QC and agree acceptable quality of moulding. Select and clearly mark example as ‘FIRST OFF’.
• During production, repair (or identify) faults that may occur with machine, tool or ancillary equipment.
• Monitor production cycle time and scrap rate levels and make adjustments to improve as required.
• Ensure that mouldings are produced to agreed quality standards.
• Assist in the development and sampling process of new moulds.
• Assist in the development of operators, ensuring that safety and all procedural matters are carried out in accordance with company policy.
• Attend shift changeover meeting to be appraised of current state of production and to plan workload for the shift.
• On completion of a production run a final moulding is to be clearly marked up as a ‘LAST OFF’ with the date and time it was produced. (This moulding is to accompany the tool and be retained with it in its stored location).
• Tool removal is to be carried out in accordance with correct procedures observing all relevant safety regulations. All ancillary items that are removed are to be checked and returned to stock racking/locations at time of removal.
• Faults with tools or ancillary items to be reported immediately to the B/M Production Manager. The fault is also to be recorded in the shift log book.
• Ensure good standard of tidiness and organisation in the moulding and storage area for materials, moulds and ancillaries.
