FOOD MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY!!! PREVIOUS FOOD EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL!!!

Purpose of the Job:
-Ensure compliance of operations with customer requirements and relevant legislation.
-Develop, maintain and improve practices and operations to provide the highest quality product with respect to food safety, hygiene and product integrity.
-Through due diligence, accuracy, technical expertise, continuous development, innovation and pro-active improvement in line with customer and legislative requirements ensure all operations are undertaken in line with Technical, Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
-Support all operations on technical issues strengthening the company position with the customer.

Responsibilities:
-Quality Assurance and Control system: initiate implement, develop and maintain quality assurance and quality control systems within the Group operations Achieve and maintain required certification and third party accreditation of operation, such as HACCP and other in line with legislation and group standards. All to be maintained on Ileader.
-Compliance control: develop raw material and products specifications and always keep them up- to-date. Ensure that incoming raw materials and produced finished products meet the specifications and other criteria and initiate corrective actions in case of non-conformity. Perform audits of suppliers on regular basis.
-Food and health and Safety: ensure compliance with health and safety standards with operation regulatory compliance, non-conforming product management, corrective and preventative action and food safety at the appropriate level and monitor adequate execution.
-Microbiology: ensure microbiological sampling, keeping to schedules, maintain standards and recording results. Follow up on results which fall below standard according to legislation and customer specifications.
-Cleaning operations: effectively manage the cleaning operations. Ensure that cleaning processes are satisfactory for commencement of production at all times maintaining cleaning schedules and collating cleaning audits. Attain required hygiene levels, including pest controls and laundry.
-Documentation: ensure all quality, technical and environmental documentation, check and tests are up to date. Detail and documentation of all reports produced. Develop and improve all quality and environmental manuals. Maintain I-Leader and ensuring where always possible a paper less system and trend results and share information to get results and better understanding of technical issues both internal and external throughout the group.
-Quality control staff: ensure proper availability of trained and educated employees within the sites and affectively manage the quality control staff including the organization and execution of internal audits and on-line quality controls.
-NPD : To work closely with the relevant NPD personnel and Sales management to ensure full compliance with the customers technical requirements including nutritional, allergen, packaging, shelf life etc. Liaise with Production Management with regard to process flows, handling and hygiene requirements are in place. Ensure all sites have the necessary licenses and documentation to carry out further processing.
-Veterinarian Liaison: communication and liaise with the veterinarians. Ensure pro-active follow-up on identified issues.
-Customer Liaison: deal with day-to-day customer and consumer quality issues.
-Trace-ability control: ensure adequate set-up and execution of trace-ability systems and procedures within the supply chain.
-KPI’s Targeting: appraise / review performance of subordinate team leaders, supervisors and controllers.in Dorset and Langport. Agree objectives and review results using established procedures. Provide required reports and statistics to ensure the efficient running of the Plants at the highest quality standards. Gather sufficient information to enable proper decisions to be made regarding KPI’s.
-Best practices: enable best practices to be extended across the businesses. Liaise with other Plants within the group and business partners with a view to improvement of existing best Practices.
-Motivation and Development: Focused at developing individual skills, enhancing motivation and improving the overall competence and effectiveness of the staff in Quality department. In conjunction with the Operation and HR Manager identify people’s development needs, plan their development and use a variety of means to improve individual and team performances.
-Communication: ensure a timely and effective response to changes required by Customer / Business / External Agencies / Legal requirements. Direct and liaise with other departments on al daily basis. Attend and hold such meetings associated with quality issues to safeguard the interests of the organisation.
-People Management: adequate management, induction, training, instruction, training instruction, appropriate disciplinary action, regular appraisal and operation to a responsible team culture ensuring two-way other departments.
-Company cost reduction: actively recognise, identify and assist in reduction of the overall costs of the company. Review and prepare a budget and manpower plan for respective areas of responsibility on an annual basis. Control all expenditures against agrees budgets.
-Special duties: Lead or participate in several parallel projects assigned by management group. All other duties as required by the site Directors.

Personal Attributes Required:
-Educated to degree level in food technology
-Minimum 5 years of technical/quality management experience with a proven track record.
-Extensive experience in FMCG business, preferably food/pharmaceutical industry, ideally meat industry.
-String leadership, people motivation and management , delegation and team working skills.
-Quality and innovations focus, understanding business model.
-Behaving ethically- indentifying concerns and resolving complex dilemmas in an open, reasonable manner.
-Building Teams – encouraging team effort, building cohesion and maintaining motivation.
-Focusing on results – being proactive and taking responsibility for getting things done.
-Clear understanding on Microbiology with respect to local legislation.
- Experience of managing projects with management teams.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
-Good communication in English required.
