Purchasing Manager

Purchasing Manager - £34,000 - £38,000 - Permanent - Manufacturing - East Sussex.

STR Procurement & Supply Chain are working with a Manufacturing company based in the East Sussex region who are looking for a Purchasing Manager to join the team.

Based from the East Sussex site, our client designs, manufactures, assembles and distributes it's products internationally. They are proud to have all the process in the UK and are expanding as the result of positive growth.

The Purchasing Manager will take charge over a small team and be involved the the Purchasing process cradle-to-grave.

Main responsibilities of the role include:

Development and management of the supplier base to meet production target deadlines in order to maximise efficiency and productivity.
Forecasting of purchasing demands based on market trends.
Oversee the management of the material resource planning across both companies, using various software systems.
Oversee the logistical control of parts requiring a sub-contract process.
Management of JIT contracts to support Kanban manufacturing whilst pro-actively reducing inventory.
Development and implementation of new Purchasing Strategies for the Company.
Investigate and resolve invoice queries.
Monitor and maintain inventory parameters consistent with inventory management guidelines.
Administration of Utilities and other non-stock based contracts.
Demonstrate strong expediting skills and communications skills.
Remain composed under pressure whilst adhering to strict deadlines.
Manage the Department and ensure all team members perform their duties to the required standard.
To actively train and mentor the team around to build skill set and knowledge within the department
To effectively work with the Design and Development Department and take ownership with them for new product launches.
To effectively manage the requirements for annual volume customer contracts
To review and effectively manage the KPI requirements for the Department

Candidates should have:
Previous experience as a Purchasing Manager/supervisory role.
Manufacturing background (General Manufacturing, Plastics, Electronics etc)
Great Communication skills
Overall supply chain knowledge including logistics would be useful.
