The Role;

- Assist the Production Manager in the management of the Production Team to improve efficiencies and reduce cost
- Manage day to day activities of Team Leaders to ensure the production plan is achieved as efficiently as possible
- Drive continuous improvement process throughout manufacturing
- Ensure disciplines are being carried out effectively to continually improve health and safety and good manufacturing practice in the workplace
- Assist the Production Manager in the development of the departmental Business Plan and communicate it to Team Leaders and Operators
- With the assistance of the Team Leaders, establish key deliverables for manufacturing staff and conduct performance reviews annually
- Record and measure team performance against agreed production targets and drive continuous improvement throughout manufacturing
- Report on performance statistics to Production Manager weekly
- Liaise with internal departments to ensure production targets are met and customer satisfaction achieved
- Ensure disciplines are being carried out effectively to continually improve health and safety and good manufacturing practice within the workplace
- Ensure all risk assessments and task breakdowns are carried out, presented and maintained effectively
- Liaise with HR to ensure there is adequate resource available to each operation to optimise skills, efficiencies and outputs
- Work to a Quality Management System and ensuring the necessary disciplines are followed by all team members. Audit the process by carrying our random physical checks
- Lead weekly production team meetings
- Liaise with Production Technician to identify training requirements for Production staff to ensure an agreed level of flexibility
- Manage absence and formal disciplinary issues in association with Production Manager and HR.
- Assist with the introduction of new products and materials
- Monitor, measure and report on production issues and achievements within agreed formats and timescales, ensuring that solutions to issues are identified and appropriately implemented
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required

Our ideal candidate;

- Management or supervisory experience in a high volume production environment
- People management skills
- Exposure and a working knowledge of 5S / Lean Manufacturing
- Continuous Improvement Planning experience
- Mechanically minded
- The ability to work well under pressure
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
