Description

Main Function:

To under take training in setting and operating production machinery and processes as effectively as possible; following all necessary procedures to ensure a good quality product.

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Quality of the parts you are making:

Make sure you know the Product and Process specifications before starting a job.
Aim to set the job to the middle of the spec with as little variation as possible.
Satisfy yourself that the parts you are making conform to requirements at all stages of manufacture.
Comply with quality procedures at all stages:
Stock control
First-off inspection
Product identification and traceability
Control of non-conforming product
In process controls and inspections
Conform to all relevant work instructions, procedures, specifications and process documentation.
If for any reason you are doubtful about the quality of the product you are making inform your Cell Leader.
Contribute to activities aimed at quality improvement - of product and processes.

2. Quantity of the parts you are making:

Be aware of production requirements regarding quantities of product and timescales for their production.
Aim to work as efficiently as possible without compromising quality standards.
Inform your Cell Leader of any process related problems - tooling, machinery, etc. so that relevant people can be involved at an early stage.
Contribute to activities aimed at improvement of efficiency - of process, systems, and organisation

3. Accuracy of data associated with the parts you are making:

Ensure all in process inspection records are completed accurately.
Supply accurate data regarding quantities and times so that job progress and job costing records are truly representative of the real situation.

4. Team work

You are a member of a production team within the production team within the company team.
Work within your team but be aware of the wider issues. You will be called on to assist other teams as the occasion demands.
Contribute to activities aimed at continual improvement of the operation.

5. Machinery and Tooling

Keep machinery and tools in a clean, tidy and well maintained condition.
Inform your Cell Leader of any requirement for repairs or modifications - to machinery or tools - so they can liaise with the relevant people.

6. Safety

It is your responsibility to work safely.
Comply with the Company Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.

7. Training

Ensure you have sufficient training to carry out any tasks allocated. If not, ensure that training requirements are raised with your Cell Leader.

8. Housekeeping

Keep your work environment clean and tidy.

9. Progression to Setter

Keep a log of all set ups so that once up to speed authorisation can be obtained to gain setter status
Consistently set jobs in under 4 hours also meeting the following criteria
Less than 1000 pieces set up scrap
Run with no problems OEE greater than 70%

10. Hours of Work

Monday - Thursday 6.15am-4.30pm (39 hours per week)
