Their acquisition of Boots Healthcare International in 2006 resulted in the gain of market-leading brands such as Nurofen, Strepsils and Clearasil, which provided a new platform for growth in the rapidly expanding OTC healthcare market. In 2007 the Pharmaceuticals division of Reckitt Benckiser achieved £211m in net revenues - a growth of 35% from the previous year.

They now seek to appoint a physician of the highest calibre to join their Global Medical Team, and to play a key role in ensuring the feasibility and success of product development initiatives.

Prime aspects of this highly visible role will be to:

• scientifically support Commercial teams by providing core medical expertise to business strategy, as well as contributing to promotional activities
• actively support the multi-disciplinary project teams, providing both operational and strategic input
• provide sound leadership to a team of non medically-qualified Medical Advisors, and to Medical Information
• work closely with the Clinical Team to ensure the development of products in accordance with regulatory requirements.

• Medically qualified. Post graduate qualifications and/or Dip Pharm Med would be an advantage
• Experience of working in the pharmaceutical industry within a Medical Affairs role is essential, ideally within an OTC setting
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Commercially astute, with the ability to succeed in a results-driven and intellectually demanding environment
• Clinical experience in analgesia, ENT, GI or dermatology would be advantageous, although not essential.
