This is a rare opportunity to join a global manufacturer, based in Stockport we are looking for an Assistant Chemist.

Primary Objectives

1) To assist in the development of coating formulations utilised, and to monitor the performance achieved. To assist the Chemist with detailed and formatted plant specifications.

2) To ensure all documentation and samples are maintained in systematic formats.

3) To assist the Chemist in the development of new products.

4) To ensure all relevant testing work sheets are followed and completed.

5) Responsible for the correct implementation of recipes and procedures of both the Mixing and Flocculation Plants.

6) Ensure correct training with the Production Managers and operators in safe handling where applicable.

7) To assist in the introduction of new formulations, products and procedures, on the coating and mixing plant.

8) To assist the Chemist and Q.C. Manager with Q.C. systems and procedures within the laboratory and production departments.

9) To gain a detailed understanding of the systems and operational running of the mixing department and colour kitchen.



Specific Objectives

1) To monitor and liase with the Chemist chemical stock requirements, storage requirements, and the storage of chemical products within the warehouse in collaboration with the Fabric Warehouse Manager.

2) To assist in the training of both management and Operatives in the correct and safe use of chemicals, mixing systems, and formulation used.

3) To undertake any other projects as defined by the General Manager. These to include Environmental and Health & Safety.

4) To ensure accurate and detailed records of all standard laboratory testing.


General

1) Your workplace and working area must be kept clean and tidy. You must adhere to the Company's Health and Safety standards as defined in the Health and Safety Policy.

2) Perform within the requirements of your position and maintain the Company's Internal Quality procedures.

3) Carry out any other duties as and when required by the General Manager. This may involve working in other departments or locations.


Qualifications Required

• Recognised qualification in associated chemistry.

• Extensive knowledge of coating chemistry and application thereof.

• Previous managerial experience in a technical environment would be beneficial.

• Evidence of strong analytical skills.

The hours of work will be days, 7.30am to 4.30pm Mon to Fri, however during training and for holiday cover candidates will be required to work shifts being 6-2/2-10.
