Senior Research Manager
Purpose of Job:
To plan, manage and participate in the collection, processing, analysis and reporting of data and biological samples from important research studies carried out on farmed animal species. These studies are conducted to assist corporate clients develop animal health and feed additive products.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and manage the delivery of a range of studies to meet protocol requirements and delivery deadlines.
Manage the collection / processing of samples and the collection / transcription of data onto electronic format.
Manage Research Technicians (act as line manager), coach and train staff where appropriate.
Work closely with study managers and line managers to functionally manage Research Technicians.
Ensure that the requirements of concurrent studies are converted into work plans for Research Technicians.
Manage specified studies (act as study manager), liasing effectively with clients and deliverers.
Display a level of understanding of the science associated with studies managed, sufficient to be able to communicate effectively with clients.
Liaise effectively with clients demonstrating a high level of commercial awareness.
Draft study protocols and reports to a standard which requires minimal editing.
Forecast expenditure and labour use on specified studies (act as contract manager).
Help ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practice, Good Clinical Practice (veterinary), the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act, Standard Operating Procedures and other internal procedures.
Manage the maintenance of facility documentation and scientific equipment, including drafting / reviewing Standard Operating Procedures.

Experience of working with farm animals. Desirable
Experience of working on Home Office regulated studies.
Experience of working to Good Laboratory Practice and Good Clinical Practice (veterinary).
Experience of managing staff.
Understanding of statistical analysis.
Degree or equivalent in appropriate subject or equivalent experience.
