| Description |
My client who has been established since 1946 and has supplied the International Defence market with over 90,000 vehicle bodies among other items and systems.
You will be reporting to the Head of ILS and your role will be as follows:-
To manage all Technical Publications activities within my client through the tendering, design, manufacture, test and delivery processes to ensure that customer requirements are met or exceeded.
To ensure appropriate Technical Publications resources are available and managed to ensure customer publication specifications are met.
To ensure that all technical documentation is undertaken in the most cost effective manner to achieve a quality level to meet customers specifications.
To ensure that all projects are undertaken and managed in accordance with the project programme and budget.
To manage the development of all Publications (Commercial & Military) both electronically and hardcopy within the budgeted cost and programme requirements.
To support ILS activities and the development of Logistic Support Analysis Records.
To minimise product liability cost by the provision of the correct level of information within the Technical Documentation.
To develop the Technical Publication departmental processes and procedures to improve the business efficiency.
Areas of Responsibility
The management of the Technical Publications Department.
To ensure the development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Technical Publications Department management system, processes and procedures.
To review project requirements to ensure that all Technical Publications requirements can be achieved in a smooth and efficient manner.
Ensuring that the necessary Technical Publications support is provided at the tender proposal stage.
The production of workload plans and project plans to ensure that the Technical Publications Department meets all internal and external customer requirements and contractual commitments.
The proposed allocation of competent resources to each project or task in an appropriate timely manner to ensure that all projects can be achieved within the budgeted cost and timescales to meet the expected customer requirements for Commercial or Military Publications in accordance with Joint Service Procedures, Def Stan 00-60, AECMA 1000D.
This description is a minimum and in general the Technical Publications Manager will be responsible for ensuring both Internal and External customer satisfaction through a first class service, on-time delivery, product excellence and adherence to customer requirements.
Knowledge, skills and experience
Knowledge
Knowledge of Military shelter and Support Systems, MAX MRP System, Production Planning, Quality Management, Man Management and Control systems.
Knowledge of Resource Management and employment legislation.
Knowledge of Costing and Budgeting and Cost management.
Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environ legislation Requirements.
Knowledge of all aspects of the production of Tech. Publications.
Knowledge of Operation, Maintenance and Repair of Mechanical and electrical equipment within MSV products.
Knowledge of JSPs 181 to 188 and associated specifications.
Knowledge of ACEMA 1000D, ACQUIRED, I Log software and Def Stan 00-60
Skills
Management and development of people.
Use computer packages eg Pagemaker, Coreldraw, Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, AutoCad, Epic Editor (Arbor text), I log, E.A.G.L.E., ISO Draw.
Good written and verbal communication to clearly express views and ideas.
Ability to interact with all levels, both internally and externally.
Experience
Extensive/Specialist/technical knowledge & understanding in an engineering experience across most engineering disciplines.
Strategic knowledge & understanding of Technical Authoring.
Qualifications
Mechanical or electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent
In return they are offering a good salary package, as well as 25 days holiday, 4% matched contribution pension, life assurance, Flexible working hours (9am 4pm Mon Thurs and Friday 9am 2.30pm Core hours) this does not account for the contractual 37.5 hours, so you will have to work either side of the core hours, and discounted BUPA.
