Description		Principal Electronics Engineer .The Principal Electronics Engineer will work within a team in the ISTAR business unit. The primary areas of work within the team are related to the design and development of camera systems, servo controlled platforms and other military equipment for use in land, sea and air domains. The Principal Electronics Engineer will report to the ISTAR Electronics Group Leader and will be expected to take responsibility for a number of projects working in either a lead design capacity and also as the Systems Design Authority when required. The Purpose of the Role: To provide expertise to carry out the design and productionisation of electronic units within the ISTAR business area. Responsibilities/Duties To be responsible for implementation of designs that meet the requirements of the business in terms of delivering to time, quality, performance and cost. To mentor and support other members of the team and work with functions such as mechanical design, production and systems engineering to produce market leading products. Creative Development It is expected that this role is key to the ongoing development of ISTAR products and as such the job holder is expected to be able to devise approaches and solutions that are innovative and meet the business requirements. Tools, S/W Packages and Equipment Used EDA tools are used within the department and their use will be expanded. Microsoft Office. Working Conditions Ability to travel within the UK and overseas when required to support activity as required. This is not seen as a major part of the role but would be required on an occasional basis. Additional Requirements Desire to succeed and go the extra distance when required. Strong team player with the tenacity to process tasks until problems are solved. Experience: Degree in Electronic Systems Engineering or closely related subject Proven experience of electronics design within an environment handling the entire product lifecycle from design through to production engineering. Implementation of circuit and system level design using current digital and analogue technology. Understanding of servo control systems Knowledge of legislation such as EC Directives, RoHS and WEEE. Experience of working in a structured engineering environment.
