Description		Senior Software Engineer The job is to provide software support and system knowledge to the Combat and Surveillance System group, developing and implementing software solutions in conjunction with marketing and the other engineering disciplines of the team. The role will involve providing original solutions to meet a market requirement and to provide technical customer support in all aspects of system software. The job holder may work alone or as part of a larger team depending on the requirement. The job holder requires an extensive knowledge of digital hardware and the software interfacing implications. The Purpose of the Role: The job is to develop, debug, test and maintain software in real time systems. The role is part of a team dealing with combat and surveillance systems which require the creation and debugging of code which provides the control for closed loop tracking systems, requiring knowledge of deterministic processing which orders the correct and timely execution of algorithms in the order of milliseconds. The role also requires the management of code verification, validation, configuration and control all within a time constraint which is defined by interfacing to program management. Responsibilities/Duties 1/ Maintaining/debugging of Real Time C++ code, Including knowledge of Ethernet and Serial Protocols 2/ Testing and Verification of Software 3/ Configuration and Control of Code 4/ Writing new code from a requirement, verifying its compliance to this requirement. 5/ Providing Software System Support to Marketing Responsibility for Resources The job holder will be responsible for ensuring that the software tools and resources required to successfully carry out the role are fully defined and are understood by the Company's IT department. Tools, S/W Packages and Equipment Used C/C++ Compilers Rhasody (ILogix) C++ Developer In-circuit Debuggers x86 Assemblers Microsoft Office Tools Ethernet/Serial Logging devices Working Conditions There is an occasional requirement (3 or 4 times a year) for oversees travel in the marketing support and maintenance role. ESSENTIAL Communication with customer on technical matters is essential. Must be presentable to customers/suppliers Degree in Software Design & Development/Information & Communication Technology OR HNC/HND plus experience of software design and development. Experienced in real time C/C++ development � For real time read �millisecond critical� Experienced in Object Orientated Design Software Team Leader. Experience of planning own work with limited supervision. Experience of working in the defence/aerospace/space/automotive industry. ESSENTIAL Ability to communicate well. Team player. Able to work to tight deadlines. Good communication skills (both verbal and written). Attentive to detail. Accurate.
