Description		Head of Supercomputer Solution Centre To lead the group that provides software support, strategic direction and requirements capture for supercomputing.. To be the head of the Supercomputing Solution Centre delivering through agreed SLA's supercomputing to meet company needs. Key accountabilities �Work with business customers to identify current & strategic requirements and integrate with the IT Operations Service Groups to identify and establish a future Programme of Work. �Represent Supercomputing current and future plans at senior management meetings and enhance integration with Supercomputing customers. �Oversee Supercomputer Solution Centre(SSC) programmatic work and ensure that programmatic objectives are being met to time and budget and consistent with business requirements and the Directorate Accountability Plan. �Strategic lead for the provision of High Performance Computing (HPC) Responsibilities �To ensure that the Solution Centre performance meets company standards of assurance �To lead and manage a high performing team of professional staff (approx. 25 people), act as line manager for direct reports and maintain and improve a positive working environment for all SSC staff. �To work with the IT Organisation to provide an optimised IT capability �To act as Project Sponsor for the High Performance Computing Major Investment Scheme �To ensure effective outreach activities nationally and internationally �To develop the culture within the division to align it more closely with the requirements of defence strategy. �To play an integral part in the company leadership team �Member of the Directorate Senior Management Team and the IT Programme Board. Qualifications Excellent relevant scientific or technical academic qualifications. A higher degree is likely. Knowledge �In depth understanding of scientific and engineering computing. �Extensive knowledge of HPC systems and its scientific and technical applications together with parallel programming techniques �Up to date knowledge of relevant technologies and future directions. �Awareness of good practice in R&D and service management Experience �A well respected individual with extensive experience in scientific/technical computing �Extensive line management experience. �Demonstrable evidence of operating in a role where strong peer recognition has been established �Sound project / budget management track record �Experience of leading major procurements is desirable Skills �Able to operate effectively and influence at board level �Excellent scientific or technical knowledge �Strong business awareness �Excellent and effective communication and negotiation capability �Powerful networking ability �Strategic thinking and planning ability �Strong requirement capture capability �Strong financial management skills �Effective multi-tasking ability �Experienced project management capability �Dynamic leadership and ability to motivate others �Strong interpersonal and people management skills �Experienced team builder, able to allocate resources effectively Special Requirements Willing to travel and lead international collaborations PLEASE NOTE, THIS POSITION IS IN A UK DEFENCE COMPANY, DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS WORK, ALL SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS MUST HAVE BEEN IN THE UK FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS AS SECURITY CHECKS WILL NEED TO BE MADE.
