My client an international service company is now seeking a Senior Logistics Specialist to join their company based in Yeovil to look after one of their major defence clients

This is an exciting opportunity to join my client. The business unit is an area of strategic growth for the Company and is seeking to appoint an experienced Account Manager to support its development and play a key role in its ongoing and future success.

This is a senior appointment, reporting to the Operations Controller, you will be responsible for successfully developing operational excellence and supporting the growth of the contract business and infrastructure.

The Role
As Account Manager, key responsibilities include:
• Having specific responsibility for focusing on their customer within the Business Unit.
• Driving the bottom line of the business to meet budgetary targets and required levels of service against defined KPIs in a diverse role.
• Focusing on adding value in the short, medium and long term
• Ensuring what the customer wants makes sense commercially.
• Partnering with customers to really understand their business through intimate dialogue
• Ensuring a positive and productive relationship is established with the customer, ensuring that we are responsive to their needs and expectations as well as developing and maintaining their trust.
• Ensuring that business initiatives are explored, actioned and developed and that we are innovative and proactive in optimising potential benefits, particularly taking into account any new future business expansion.
• Supporting the business unit to form extensive networks within and beyond the organisation which benefit Wincanton, capitalising on synergies and insights.
• Working with my client’s performance management systems confirming all activities are undertaken to ensure goals are consistently being met in an effective and efficient manner whilst motivating and developing the senior managers in the team.
• Growing others by finding opportunities for people to develop their skills, locally and across the business.
• Being skilled at identifying and promoting talent, attracting and selecting the best teams.

The Person
• You must be able to demonstrate extensive relevant Management experience.
• The successful applicant will need to be highly energetic, flexible and enthusiastic in the management of change and innovation and be able to respond in a positive manner to the demands of the Defence Customers.
• You must have excellent leadership skills particularly in the areas of communication and influence in order to maximise the effectiveness of your own team and ensuring that they develop excellent relationships with the customer.
• Exceptional customer relations and interpersonal skills are required as it is absolutely critical that formal customer reviews are managed effectively along with day to day informal contacts.

This is a challenging and demanding high profile position, which will enhance the reputation of any ambitious Manager.

The ideal individual would be someone who has 4-8 years experience in the commercial sector, after leaving the military, who has been involved in a senior logistics operation, where you have had senior level discussions both internally and externally, where you can prove you have improved bottom line reporting and managed to maintain and beat traditional KPI’s and SLA’s.
