Regional Executice Officer

A central government defence organisation requires a Regional Executive Officer for a 3 month contract based in Hythe, Kent.

Headquarters Defence Training Estate South East (HQ DTE SE) Region is to deliver and develop safe and sustainable training areas and facilities in order to support the endorsed and contingent training requirements of Defence

Reporting to the Regional Commander, the Regional Executive Officer is responsible for acting as Deputy to the Regional Commander in their absence, implementing direction and policy and for oversight of the management and control of all activity conducted in the Region by the Authorised Users.

In the absence of the Regional Commander, the oversight, efficient use and control of training facilities, including delivery of military training 'Safe Place', of all major and minor training areas and facilities in the Region and Commanding Officer Range Authorising Unit
The principal Regional staff officer including the production of staff papers and training activity reports and data
Authorise with Defence Infrastructure Organisation and Industry Partner the commercial use of the MOD estate
Maintain/enhance professional working relationships with private landowners, landlords, estates and organisations whose continued goodwill is essential for the conduct of military training across the Region. Establish and maintain engagement with local Government, Statutory Bodies, Non Government Organisations and civilian stakeholder organisations and individuals to foster positive public relations
Oversee the development of training infrastructure and rationalisation of surplus capacity
Liaison with formations and units, regarding their training requirements, and supporting ADMINCON (other units that provide administrative control/support to DTE) formations
Act as the Deputy Budget Holder and Senior Fund Manager (Non-public accounts) and Contract Authority The Regional Executive Officer will ideally have previous experience of military training and operations and have completed the next available DTE run Range Safety Officers' and the Service Fund Accounts courses.

Previous experience of land and environmental law (land use, control of pollution, waste management, conservation, environmental protection and public rights) is desirable.

This is a Military Support Function post requiring appropriate military skills, competences and knowledge. Ideally the post should be filled by an individual who has achieved Service staff qualification and has commanded a sub unit.
