My client, a large library based in Central London, is looking to bring on board a Security Operations Manager to: deliver high standards of customer service by providing leadership, guidance and support to the Library's security teams; focus on operational efficiency, sickness absence, employee satisfaction and development, continuous improvement and quality, and internal customer development; and manage the Library security staffing service in order to maximise its performance and ensure its operations fully support the Library's requirements for the protection of staff, visitors, property, collections and services.
You will be responsible for 1 Security Manager, 5 Security Team Managers and indirectly circa 85 Security Officer.
Successful candidates must have the following key skills/ experience/ attributes:
*Significant experience as a Security Manager in a corporate or public sector environment.
*A good understanding and knowledge of operational security management for large public sites.
*Track record of delivering performance and service and quality, against agreed targets.
*Proven ability to motivate, lead and supervise the activities of others and make significant contributions to multi-disciplinary teams.
*Capability and experience to conduct developmental interviews with operational staff, whilst displaying good coaching skills and the ability to offer advice on developmental opportunities.
*Experienced in reviewing and evaluating the work of a team and the individuals within it, and is confident in dealing with underperformance of staff.
*Capability to take decisions, within existing policies, which have a lasting effect on the service, including how resources are deployed.
*Capability to exhibit sound operational judgement and the ability to analyse complex service issues.
*Experience, diplomacy and sensitivity to deal effectively with matters of a confidential nature.
*Genuine customer orientation with the ability to respond appropriately to the needs of all customers, with the tact and sensitively to deal effectively with difficult issues and situations.
*The capability to develop systems and processes to ensure that work is completed to the relevant standards and the setting and monitoring of targets for individuals and teams.
*Ability to work in an organised and methodical fashion while retaining the ability to respond flexibly to problems when necessary.
*Good written and oral communication and presentation skills and the ability to interact with a wide range of audiences.
*Ability to monitor expenditure and income against set budgets and to identify and explain variances.
*Track record of monitoring contractor performance.
