A central government organisation requires a Commercial Officer for a 6 month contract based in Leeds.
The Commercial Officer is required to provide support to our client's national Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) programme and help implementation of range of pan government procurement initiatives.
The Commercial Officer will be required to:
Provide guidance and support to colleagues about the SME programme
Work with contract managers to understand and capture the indirect spends to SMEs through supply chain and sub-contracting opportunities. Also identify opportunities through these contracts where further sub-contracting opportunities may arise
Coordinate the gathering of SME data and case studies
Attend cross government procurement initiative meetings, when necessary, to influence and contribute to discussions
Work and influence colleagues across the Procurement Centre of Expertise (PCoE) , the wider government areas and its Arms Length Bodies, to embed the SME initiative including the SME action plan
Assist with the implementation and roll out of lean procurement
To work with colleagues to to ensure that efficiency controls are being complied with and provide advice and guidance where necessary The Commercial Officer will have experience of the following:
Government, or public sector procurement/commercial experience
Knowledge of the public procurement regulations
Excellent communication and networking skills
