Description

My client is looking for a Buyer / Senior Buyer with a strong Procurement background to take responsibility for the site spend (circa £10m) across 300+ suppliers.

This position is based in Cornwall and is a permanent role. Salary for the successful applicant will be up to £30K with additional bonuses.

The purpose of the role is to manage the daily activity within the Purchasing department across all product categories (both direct and indirect) and suppliers. Reporting to internal and external stakeholders, the role will require you to deliver year-on-year commercial benefit to the business as a whole. The role will also involve supporting the strategic direction for the department in line with the purchasing strategy for the business.

Duties and responsibilities will include;
Manage the site spend in the region of £10m across 300+ suppliers.
Participate via both Lead and support roles on various Divisional and Group purchasing, sourcing and logistics projects.
Ensure that purchase requisitions and orders are processed within quality, quantity, cost and time parameters.
Manage the procure to pay process ensuring that any invoice queries are resolved in a timely manner.
Ensure that all purchasing data on the systems is accurate and maintained and data is provided to stakeholders as required.
Ensure robust supply agreements are in place and maintained with approved suppliers.
Ensure that the approved supplier list is accurate, effective and maintained.
Ensure a supplier review programme is undertaken to review supplier performance, and ensure the maximum value is being extracted from key suppliers.
Identify and deliver cost savings and efficiency opportunities.
Support working capital objectives by utilising consignment stock, extending payment terms and reducing inventory through stock reviews.
Rationalise the supply base to ensure the most suitable suppliers are used and develop effective working relationships with those suppliers.
Support stakeholders in understanding and developing any opportunities across site, divisional or group level.
Support the purchasing function in the roll out of new processes, policies and systems as appropriate.
Ensure KPI's are developed, maintained and circulated to all stakeholders.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following skills / abilities / competencies;
Preferably CIPS qualified.
Have strong purchasing knowledge covering both direct, indirect and service categories within a manufacturing environment and delivering heightened supply chain value.
Knowledge of working cross functionally to ensure the purchasing department and other internal departments work in collaboration to continually improve site performance.
Conducted and chaired supplier meetings at all levels of seniority.
Able to professionally and effectively present purchasing to any internal or external audience.
Has been involved in the continuous development of the purchasing & supply chain section of an IT system.
Knowledge of using appropriate supplier evaluation and development techniques.
Strong interpersonal skills to ensure purchasing decisions for the wider business are considered and implemented.
Knowledge of developing and implementing purchasing procedures.
Possess strong commercial, analytical and negotiation skills.
Evidence of proactively managing suppliers to deliver cost, quality and delivery benefits and developing effective supplier relationships.
Results focused, articulate and numerate.
Knowledge of the print industry would be an advantage.
Strong general IT skills including all Microsoft office applications
This is a growing business with locations around the whole country. This role is specifically located in Cornwall and is located immediately next to the main transport route allowing easy access. A basic salary of up to £30K is available with an additional potential bonus (25%). There is also the possibility of a relocation package.
