Pre-Sales & Applications Engineer -Telecoms Systems

We need a very technical Pre-Sales/Bids & Proposals Engineer with experience of creating and managing complex tenders to join this internationally recognised UK Engineering company. The company has been highlighted as 'one to watch' by industry experts. They provide unique, turnkey, off-grid power solutions for mobile phone networks in extremely remote locations including rural Africa, South America and the Pacific Islands and as a result the role is likely to involve regular international travel.

Their unique combination of renewable energy based on Photovoltaic Solar-Wind Hybrid technology and mobile telecoms brings 21st century communications to communities too remote to benefit from standard telecoms infrastructure. Their systems reduce cost, improve efficiency and result in Tier 1, Telco -grade renewable power systems allowing Mobile Telco companies to deliver network access in previously untenable locations. With many systems already rolled out across the globe, this state-of-the-art technology has achieved high levels of publicity and industry acclaim, resulting in a massive increase in customer enquiries and the need for a dedicated Pre-Sales/Bids & Proposals Engineer to handle the enquiries.

The Bids & Proposals Engineer will be responsible for leading the response to tender (RTT) enquiry process. This will include liaison with customers, co-ordinating internal and external resources and manpower from the Engineering, Marketing and Sales teams to create detailed, effective and highly professional proposals. Customers include international telecoms operators, telecoms equipment manufacturers, overseas governments and international aid and development agencies. Typical projects will include aspects of electronics equipment design, bespoke applications software and electrical installation so it is essential that the Pre-Sales/Bids & Proposals Engineer has a solid technical background -preferably a degree in Electrical, Electronic or Telecommunications Engineering and a thorough knowledge of mobile telecoms installations.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Engineering background -ideally degree qualified in Electrical, Electronic or Telecommunications Engineering
Minimum 5 years industry experience
Minimum 3 years experience in creating technical Bids, Tenders, Proposals
Project Management/Contract Negotiation & Management
Customer liaison -including international travel (experience in the South African market would be particularly interesting)
Track record in direct customer contact
Commercially minded and financially astute
Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to present to customers at senior level.
Current passport and driving licence.

Salary commensurate with experience, but likely to be in the region of £45-55k plus benefits package and excellent career potential with an exciting and rapidly growing company.

Location: near Swindon, Wiltshire (commutable from Cheltenham, Gloucester, Newbury, Bath, Reading, Oxford etc)
