We're currently looking to recruit a skilled Editorial support administrator / assistant to provide front-line support to our editorial team within the field of veterinary medicine and dentistry. The opportunity would suit a candidate with strong administrative and organisational skills and those with an interest or academic background within veterinary medicine and dentistry.

Key Tasks:

> The role of an Editorial Assistant is to support the commissioning staff in the development of their publishing programmes.
> This role is primarily focused on books programmes in the fields of veterinary medicine and dentistry.
> The Editorial Assistant will be required to maintain contact with authors, tracking the progress of book projects which includes updating all internal databases as necessary.
> The role also includes supporting the book manuscript development process, advising authors during the writing process, preparing manuscripts for handover to production, commissioning cover designs and writing back cover copy.
> The Editorial Assistant role will assist with market research, supporting the commissioning staff to expand their publishing programmes.
> General secretarial and administrative duties are also a requirement, including arranging travel for the commissioning staff, photocopying, filing, preparing reports, distributing information, and other such tasks.

Selection Criteria:

> Strong academic achievement or relevant equivalent experience
> Previous administrative experience within a busy office environment and experience of working with customers and liaising with colleagues are essential for the role.
> A high standard of computer literacy including in Microsoft Word & Excel is also a must, with the ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
> Also essential is a good standard of written and spoken English.
> Experience within an academic or professional publishing organisation and an understanding of publishing processes and the role of the commissioning editor would be advantageous.
