Description		Our client is a main contractor operating in the Highway Term Maintenance sector and other related fields throughout the UK. Their highways term maintenance division has been very successful in the bidding of new contracts within the North Yorkshire and surrounding areas and is now actively seeking to appoint a keen and motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to join their commercial team based in Northallerton. Your key responsibilities and duties will include:- � Procurement and management of sub-contractors � Commercial auditing � Opportunity and Risk management and reporting � Providing support and guidance to operational staff as required � Management of Commercial team Holding a related degree is preferable or HND or similar level qualification in civil engineering or a related topic It is essential that you have operational knowledge of highway maintenance/civil engineering industry, a good understanding of contract documentation and experience in the procurement and management of subcontractors. Understanding of ECC form of contract and experience of term maintenance contracts is desirable, although not essential. With good, proven leadership skills you will possess good communication and listening skills, negotiation skills and be able to deal proactively with problems. With a thorough and accurate work ethic you will have the ability to manage workload methodically. You will be responsible for a number of projects based throughout the North Yorkshire and surrounding areas overseeing projects from inception through to completion and final account. You will be completing all traditional senior QS duties including identification of works to be subcontracted, negotiations and letting of sub contract orders, be supportive to the Contracts Managers on commercial issues including preparation and settlement. You will also be required at times to oversee and manage junior members of the commercial team providing advice and support where needed. This position would suit an experienced Senior QS looking to move into Commercial Management or a Commercial Manager seeking a new challenging position that offers new challenges and responsibilities. Our client is able to offer any training needed and the full support of the Directors to enable them to settle into the position and find their feet.
