Description		Our Client needs to replace someone who is moving on and to help with the final delivery of this part of the scheme and other highway related schemes for Cornwall County Council. Highway Engineers are required to design the schemes and direct Technicians in the delivery of the design packages. As a highway engineer within the Camborne Office you will work closely with the other engineers to develop the designs for schemes, in particular CPR Highway. This scheme is split into two parts. The first is approaching Planning Submission, whilst the second is progressing to Planning at the end of the year. Following Planning Approval the schemes will need to be developed to detailed design stage for the contractor to start building early in 2010. Applicants will be a dedicated highway design engineer with experience of the design of improvement schemes for highway users, both motorised and NMU's. As a team player you will need to work closely with your colleagues to produce quality solutions incorporating the latest innovations and design best practices. You will be able to work on your own initiative and take responsibility for the aspects of schemes allocated to you. Candidates must have a Degree/HNC/HND or formal qualification in a relevant technical discipline. Incorporated or nearing Chartered status would be welcomed. Technically you will be familiar with current highway design standards, DMRB, Traffic Advisory Notes, Traffic Signs Manual etc. You should be able to prepare specifications and contract documents. At the core of your design skills will be an understanding of Health and Safety and CDM regulations. Your experience will have allowed you to design highway improvements and you should be confident in your decisions with regards to the correct standards to be applied. AutoCAD use is an essential part of the design process and you should be proficient in using it, with other add on packages. Use of MX would be an added advantage for the team.
