Description		Our Client is a main contractor with offices throughout the UK and Europe. Employing over 2000 people in various disciplines throughout the UK they are part of a �9billion construction and property company. The Company operates in most public and private sectors offering design, construction, property development, facilities management and plant hire. Due to their continued Client satisfaction, the percentage of repeat business has increased as the years go by with over 60% of work in 2007 being repeat from existing Clients. A Regional Structural Engineer is now required in Scotland, to be based from the Company's Edinburgh or Glasgow office on a variety of high profile projects. The successful candidate will be working mainly in the pre-contract bidding phase and will therefore be confident developing effective structural and groundwork solutions on major design and build projects. You will ideally have a structural / geotechnical background preferably gained with a major contractor in the UK. Excellent communication and management skills will be required together with technical awareness and excellent organisation. Our Client now seeks an Assistant Design Manager who will report to the Regional Design Manager for pre-award activities and to the Project Manager during the construction phase. Based in either the Company's Edinburgh or Glasgow offices the successful applicant would work alongside the Company's experienced Design Managers in order to provide design management services in accordance with well established procedures. Previous experience in a Design Management role is not essential as full training will be provided if required. Some experience in the health sector would be beneficial but again, not essential. Experience with a contractor or design consultant would also be advantageous as would a completed qualification in a relevant subject. The successful applicant will work with the organisation's established Design Management team providing a service to the region in the management and supervision of this key activity. Where previous experience in a Design Management role is not essential as full support is offered, experience with a contractor or design consultant will be beneficial.
