Our client is a joinery and fitout contractor who supply and install joinery. They have a well equipped, modern factory which produces the finest joinery and finished unitary for the domestic, commercial office and retail sectors. They have been established for many years and enjoy considerable repeat business with blue-chip clients. They can offer architects, designers, main contractors and retail clients a complete turn-key service on projects up to c£2 million. Their business is going great guns and they now require an Assistant Production Manager to support the current manager who will be retiring at the end of this year, there will be a good opportunity for a thorough handover to the Assistant Joinery Manager. This role will provide an interesting and challenging position for an experienced joiner with good workshop and production experience who along the way has also developed an interest in CAD and who could also contribute something in this area of the business. In the long term this person will be capable of taking up the full responsibility for production management and running this part of my client’s business.

This role would suit an experienced joinery professional, someone with workshop and factory production skills, with some knowledge or experience of CAD. You should have management ability and be able to fit in with the existing workforce, a mixed group of joiners with various skills and levels of experience. You will also be flexible in your approach and as part of your remit have some CAD experience and knowledge.

The role:
• The emphasis of this role is on the production side, for someone to come in and take up workshop/production responsibilities with a view to taking up the position of Production Manager/Workshop Manager over the next 6-12 months, CAD experience is preferred but not essential
• A strong joinery background, relevant level of experience (Supervisor, Foreman or Assistant Manager), combined with a track record in a production environment and some experience of CAD would be ideal
• Design development of joinery packages and prefabricated modular components, creative flair and enthusiasm for joinery detailing and design input for residential, leisure and retail projects
• A keen eye on cost along with the ability to deliver quality products on time. The workshop is a busy environment and you should be able to function, balancing changing priorities and tight deadlines with a high regard for current Health & Safety practices
• After some training you will be expected to be able to provide good support to the manager along with design and additional CAD responsibilities

Essential

• Joinery workshop and production experience
• Ideally some CAD experience
• Interested in managing a joinery production business in the longer term
• Happy to have a role that combines joinery production with some CAD input
• Situated in SW Herts, you should live within daily commuting distance (accessible from Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex and parts of Greater London)
