AREA QUANTITY SURVEYOR
An opportunity has arisen for an Area Quantity Surveyor with our client within their Highways & Transportation division based in Glastonbury. The division operates, maintains and improves the road network. They are currently providing around £160m of combined network management, design and contracting services, and employ over 1,200 people who deliver frontline operational work as well as design, project management and other vital office-based services.
The Somerset business has been in operation since 1996 and currently provides the full range of highway maintenance and improvement activities to Bath and North East Somerset Unitary Authority (BaNES) and Somerset County Council.
The post initially on a contract/temporary basis with possibility of leading to a permanent position.
The responsibilities
As Area Quantity Surveyor you will be reporting to the Commercial Manager you will work within a team of approximately 10 financial and commercial colleagues, and your key responsibilities within this role will include the following:
·Financial monitoring and reporting.
·Supporting Contract Quantity Surveyor with commercial management of Tier 1 subcontractor accounts.
·Management of Tier 2 and below subcontractors.
·Site measurement and valuation of works.
·Agreeing value of works undertaken with clients/subcontractors.
·Production and reporting on cost/value of works to meet financial timetable.
·Drafting notices required by the Contract/Subcontract, utilising standard templates.
·Liaison with the operations team to understand the impact of the cost and value comparison produced on a monthly basis.
·Site surveying duties in relation to post contract duties.
The requirements
·HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
·Experience in agreeing value of work with client/subcontractors.
·Experience of delivering contracts administering and using the NEC TSC Contract.
·Proficient in the use of IT, particularly MS Office suite and bespoke databases.
·Ability to provide Site QS services associated with the delivery of a complex highway maintenance contract.
·Knowledge or experience of working in a highway maintenance or construction industry environment would be ideal, as would any other relevant training or qualifications or working towards a qualification.
