Building Inspector / Site Inspector

Our client is seeking a Building Inspector / Site Inspector carry out site inspections ensuring compliance with technical standards and building regulations. This role is field based in the Yeovil area and is offering a salary of £25,001 - £29,414 plus benefits and company car.

Based from home, which should be located in the area mentioned and working in a wide geographical area, working closely with builders, the Building Inspector / Site Inspector will be required to inspections for homes being constructed and/or converted within your designated area. As the Building Inspector / Site Inspector you will be expected to foster and promote the company's objectives and services and to advance good customer relations.

Inspecting homes at key stages of construction and/or conversion in response to requests from builders, the Building Inspector / Site Inspector will provide technical advice and guidance; record and report results of your inspections of builders and their representatives. Managing relationships with customers to improve quality in house building to protect homeowners, as the Building Inspector / Site Inspector you will also liaise with technical staff to determine the most effective method of managing risk. Utilising the findings from inspections you will contribute to disciplinary cases against builders and assessing and reporting on the technical competence of builders applying for specific registration.

The successful Building Inspector / Site Inspector will be qualified to a minimum HNC/HND and/or have relevant construction experience; ideally this will have been within the house building sector and within a supervisory and/or regulatory inspection role. Qualifications such as CIOB, RICS will be an advantage. In addition applicants will have a (S) NVQ Level 4 in Site Inspection or a willingness to study for this qualification.

Among essential qualities are self-assurance, good interpersonal skills, the ability to assimilate information quickly and accurately and to make decisions within given parameters.

A current valid driving licence for this Building Inspector / Site Inspector role is also essential.
