Our client is a specialist software and automation company, creating and delivering bespoke line and factory management systems utilising extensive IT infrastructure at production line level and linking a variety of devices to a single client MES, and as a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, self motivated and dynamic Applications Engineer with expertise and experience of integrating factory/production line automation software solutions including MES/SCADA software and various packaging line devices, e.g. cameras, scanners, coders as well as experience in device communications protocols ranging from RS232/V24 to Ethernet and PLC bus systems.
Reporting to the Operations Director, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will have strong expertise allied to FMCG production line automation applications and in addition will have a keen interest in IS/Software and a solid technical approach to new and unfamiliar processes and equipment. By the nature of the industry this role will suit someone who enjoys being exposed to new technologies. Additionally, an appreciation of IT/ networks comms is required, both TCP/IP and serial (RS232), RS485 as well as PLC bus systems, with candidates able to demonstrate a good comprehension of IT networks and device communication protocols proving advantageous.
You will be tasked with managing the specification of factory automation software (i.e. MES/SCADA) solutions and providing particular expertise in the integration of production line firmware/devices with respect to barcode scanner, camera sensing, and other vision/sensor/coding/ labelling/ auto-ident. based applications as required. After the successful load and commission of the MES software onto the line terminal and, in partnership with device vendor representatives, you will establish communication with all line devices operating under the line terminals control and Set-up, install, configure and commission the barcode scanning, camera and sensor devices supplied by the client as part of the scope of supply.
To be considered for this exceptional opportunity, you will have attained a BEng/BSc in Electrical / Control / Instrumentation Engineering, and ideally able to demonstrate a proven track record with Line Automation software applications i.e. barcode scanning and vision/inspection systems implementation within the FMCG sector ideally Food, Beverage or Personal Care. Those candidates with experience and interest in IT/IS, a good awareness of PLC/HMI/SCADA software integration within factory applications and TCP/IT networks connectivity will again be viewed favourably, especially if their experience has been gained from food/drinks working practices.
