Role Description & Purpose of this role/team:

This is a great opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic person to join the Asda Multi-Channel Digital Trading team. The team is responsible for managing all General Merchandise categories online. This is a rapidly developing area of the business and we are rapidly establishing a significant business which offers the customer a fully integrated GM shopping experience where they can order instore, via the phone or online and either have their order delivered to home or collect it from store. This is a varied role with a demanding workload and the chance to really make your mark on the development of Asda Direct.

Role responsibilities:

- The role will be accountable for achieving sales and margin targets across these product areas

- Developing the Asda Digital customer offer through a clearly communicated category management approach

- Maintaining a transparent relationship with all key stakeholders within the Digital team including Marketing, Web Merchandising and Operations

- Delivering a consistent and compelling Asda value and price position - in line with the Core Business - for range and promotional activity

- Creating channel specific promotional opportunities that enhance the corporate activity plan - in conjunction with the Trading teams

- Taking a proactive part in strategic reviews and product selection

- Supporting, coaching and developing Trading Assistants

- Working closely with Central Admin, Merchandising, Supply and Operations teams to complete supplier set up forms, new line listing, item maintenance and managing cost and retail changes

- Retail Link analysis and reporting to monitor and drive sales and sell through

- Guidance and support for suppliers/partners who are new to working with a multiple retailer

- Good communication skills both written and verbal

- Able to manage a complex trading area which is subject to constant evolutionary change

- PC literate with an aptitude to learn new systems

- Ideally the candidate would have a proven track record of using the Asda trading and merchandise systems, including HOST, OLIF, Retail Link, Prospace and SIUPC

- Knowledge of the internet and .com marketing would be a benefit
