THE COMPANY & PURPOSE OF ROLE
A market leading and well recognised brand name, this retailer has fast become one of the industries most respected companies both in regards to reach in terms of market share but also people and career development.
To determine the overall strategy for the commercial content and catalogue function, including review of systems, technological interfaces, process and external suppliers to maximise efficiencies and commercial positioning.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- To have responsibility for the management of the Content team who are tasked with responsibility for maintaining the integrity, consistency and depth of the website and adding descriptive content. The team are also responsible for building content for promotions and newsletters. Content includes forms of rich /enhanced content such as multimedia content, enlarged images, related product links, HTML links etc.
- To effectively manage the Content team and resources to ensure deep and broad content coverage across all categories at all times.
- To track competitor/industry developments in Content/catalogue and to initiate and project manage content/catalogue improvements and strategic plans.
- To liaise with Product, Marketing, Design, Systems Development and Customer Support to ensure internal communication and online positioning is consistent and effective.
- To support the development of SEO and discovery paths for customers and cross-references between products, liaising with Development, Design and Marketing.
- To be responsible for the commercial relationship management of all external suppliers relating to content and catalogue provision / service requirements. To agree commercial terms and oversee performance of external suppliers against agreed SLAs.


EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE
- Preferably educated to graduate level or equivalent.
- Proven experience of working within a Content, Catalogue, Buying or Product function at management level, in retail or mail order environment. Experience of online retail is essential.
- Experience of managing a large team, including recruitment, performance management and training / development.
- Experience of project management, utilising virtual teams and diverse resources. Managing project performance against agreed timescales and working with multiple stakeholders. Ideally will have experience of implementing a Product Information Management system.
- Experience of managing commercial relationships, having a proven track record of success in negotiation, terms discussions and integration.
- Strong industry knowledge and network across multiple discipline / product areas.
