An electronics buyer is required by an SME automotive electronics manufacturing business which sustaining organic growth and is part of an international multi billion £ corporation. An ideal opportunity for a developing procurement professional.

Part of a wider international group of business's this role with be based at the Gateshead site which manufacturers electronics wire harnessing products for worldwide automotive sector clients.

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective procurement of electronics and electro mech materials and components from an international supplier base with an annual spend of £2m +.

A role which requires an experienced electronics buyer with proven ability to liaise with technical production and engineering colleagues and able to translate their materials requirements to the supply base and negotiate best cost and delivery with suppliers.


Salary - £18000 - £26000 (dependent on experience level) + benefits

Location - Gateshead


Key Role Accountabilities:
• Negotiation of supply contracts, ensuring alignment with company procurement policies
• Reviewing MRP demand to ensure production requirements are in line with customer delivery dates.
• Day to day procurement activities including negotiation of price and delivery schedules with suppliers
• Liaison with other functions, particularly engineering design and production engineering.
• Reviewing MRP requirements to ensure component deliveries are scheduled in line with production requirements
• Cost reduction activities
• Provide costing support to Bid process
• Buying experience of Electronic Components is extremely desirable

Candidate requirements:

The ideal candidate will have achieved CIPS accreditation or be partly CIPS qualified but it is essential that applicants have a minimum of two years experience in a purchasing environment working with MRP systems.

In addition candidates must have or be able to:
• Work under pressure and to strict deadlines
• Use own initiative to organise and prioritise workload
• Be competent in the use Microsoft Office
• Have good communication skills
