Senior Technical Buyer Portsmouth Permanent - £45,000

STR is currently recruiting for a world leader in the design and manufacture of sail and power boat equipment. An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Technical Buyer/ Technical Procurement Manager to join their purchasing team.

The role will primarily be focused on NPI support to ensure that new products are introduced at the lowest possible cost via a stable supply base. You will also need to ensure that new parts have all necessary supplier, commodity and cost data and are set to allow Operational Buyers to procure seamlessly as soon as demand hits. As the Senior Technical Buyer you will need to develop commodity strategies to drive costs out of the business via benchmarking and the introduction of new suppliers.

The Senior Technical Buyer will sit between the Buying team and the Engineering team, you will provide support for value engineering projects focused on driving cost out of existing product ranges.

The successful candidate will have a manufacturing/engineering background and have a mechanical bias. You will also have experience in purchasing from low cost economies and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of supplier cost reduction via benchmarking and the identification of new suppliers.

You should also be able to demonstrate good negotiation skills and will be familiar with ERP/MRP systems. Degree and/or MCIPS qualified is preferred.

This position is likely to suit a Senior Buyer or Technical Buyer or Lead Buyer or Technical Purchasing Manager or Purchasing manager.
