Salary: 20,000 GBP

Type of contract: Permanent

Workplace description: This is a spectacular 152 bedroom hotel poised elegantly on the cliff edge overlooking the bay. This stunning property has 6 conference rooms which hold up to 350 guests.

Main duties and responsibilities: You are responsible for the smooth running of the Restaurant, for all meal services and any functions that come within the control of the Restaurant, and responsible also for the standards of service and customer care that are expected of a 4* hotel outlet.

MAIN DUTIES

To comply with all statutory and company regulations relating to food hygiene and health & safety and to see that your staff are trained in, and conversant with these regulations.

To carry out all such functions as may reasonably be asked of you by the General Manager or Deputy General Manager. This may entail the occasional Duty Management shift.

To maintain cordial relations with other heads of departments and through effective communication, to be aware of all matters effecting the running of the hotel.

To develop an effective team through communication, guidance and training and to display effective leadership and to enforce disciplines where required.

To be responsible for the care and maintenance of all restaurant and ancillary equipment, the cleanliness and good repair of the fabric of the Restaurant, and to ensure your staff maintain their equipment with due diligence.

To compile, and be responsible for effective rosters and to ensure the correct balance of staff for the smooth running of all restaurant services and such functions as come within the remit of the Restaurant.

To attend in person, or through the intermediary of an appointed deputy, all heads of department meetings and morning strategy meetings.

To liaise with Sales & Marketing to ensure that you have comprehensive details of all relevant functions and that you and your staff are fully aware of all customer requirements.

To liaise on a daily basis with the Kitchen to ensure a thorough knowledge of the contents of the menus and through proper briefings to ensure that your staff are also conversant with the menus.

To be familiar with the licensing regulations as they apply to the hotel and see that the same are applied.

To be familiar with the contents of the wine and beverage lists and to supervise the sommeliers where necessary

To be familiar with the cashiering and billing operation and to ensure that all charges are correctly applied and that all restaurant paperwork is checked and passed to the appropriate billing and control departments.

To see that the room service rosters are completed and properly staffed and that the department functions in a genuinely 5* manner.

To be responsible for the interviewing and recruitment of such staff as are necessary for the effective running of the Restaurant. To ensure that such staff are effective and to institute a proper induction and training schedule for such staff.

To supervise in conjunction with the management of the hotel, the taking of staff holidays and lieu days and to ensure that these shifts are covered.

To be expeditious in dealing with customer complaints or irregularities within the Restaurant and to inform your management of any such complaints or irregularities.

To be an ambassador for the hotel and to comport yourself in an exemplary manner. To greet and seat your customers in an efficient but friendly and courteous manner and to ask the same of all your staff.

The list of duties above is not to be regarded as exclusive or exhaustive. There will be other duties and requirements associated with your post and you may be required to undertake such duties as may be reasonably required of you.

Essential criteria: Previous experience in a similar managerial role, ideally within a four star hotel. A passion for providing exceptional service and an eye for detail. Be customer focused and have strong customer care skills. To be flexible for the needs of the business. To be eligible to live and work in the UK .

Charge for accommodation: 45.00 GBP per week
