Sue Ross Legal are working on behalf of our client, a highly respected firm of regional solicitors, to recruit a Contentious Probate and Civil Litigation Solicitor

Are you a driven Solicitor looking to take the next step in your contentious probate and civil litigation career?  We’re looking for an ambitious and passionate lawyer to join our clients Barnsley office.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high‑quality, complex matters within a supportive, forward‑thinking team that genuinely values progression and professional development.

🌟 The Role

You’ll manage your own varied caseload of contentious probate and civil litigation matters from start to finish, including:

  • Will challenges and validity disputes
  • Inheritance Act claims
  • Executor and trustee disputes
  • Estate administration disputes
  • TOLATA claims (beneficial ownership, sale of property, occupation rights)

You’ll work closely with experienced colleagues while taking real ownership of your files and contributing to the continued growth of our contentious probate offering.

📝 Key Responsibilities

  • Running a busy caseload of contentious probate and civil litigation matters
  • Drafting pleadings, witness statements, legal documents, and correspondence
  • Providing clear, practical, commercially focused advice to clients
  • Conducting negotiations and engaging in ADR where appropriate
  • Maintaining exceptional standards of client care and professionalism
  • Handling TOLATA matters with confidence and accuracy

👤 About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with 1–3 years’ PQE
  • Experienced in contentious probate, civil litigation, and TOLATA claims
  • A confident communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities
  • Commercially minded with strong negotiation and client‑handling skills
  • Empathetic, professional, and able to navigate sensitive family disputes
