Quality Manager – Manufacturing (Hands-On)

About the Company

We are working with a well-established, globally recognised manufacturing business supplying engineered products into a range of industrial sectors. The site operates in a fast-paced production environment with a strong focus on quality, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.

The Role

This is a hands-on Quality Manager position where you will take ownership of site quality while remaining close to the shopfloor.

You’ll play a key role in:

  • Driving product quality and process improvement
  • Reducing defects, scrap, and rework
  • Supporting production teams with real-time quality issues
  • Embedding a strong quality-first culture

This is not a purely desk-based or compliance role — we are looking for someone who is comfortable being visible on the shopfloor and actively involved in problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day quality control activities within a manufacturing environment
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions (8D, 5 Whys, etc.)
  • Oversee non-conformance (NCR) processes, ensuring effective resolution
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and operations teams to resolve issues quickly
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve efficiency
  • Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (ISO 9001)
  • Conduct internal audits and support external audits
  • Monitor and report on quality KPIs
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) from a quality perspective
  • Manage and develop a small quality team

About You

We’re looking for someone with a strong manufacturing quality background, who enjoys being hands-on and making a visible impact.

You will likely have:

  • Experience in a Quality Manager / Senior Quality Engineer role within manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Quality control processes
    • Root cause analysis (8D, 5 Why, etc.)
    • NCR / CAPA management
  • Experience working in a production / shopfloor environment
  • Good understanding of ISO 9001 (or similar standards)
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Experience in plastics, polymers, rubber, or similar manufacturing processes
  • Lean / Six Sigma knowledge
  • Experience with supplier quality or NPI

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Stable, growing business with long-term opportunities
  • Supportive and collaborative working environment
  • Opportunity to make a real impact on site performance
