Salary/Rate:
£65,000 - £75,000/annum

Role Overview

  • Provide strategic leadership across Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) functions. Ensure compliance with UK legislation, ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001), and customer requirements while driving continuous improvement, safety culture, and right-first-time quality.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Governance

  • Lead QHSE compliance, strategy, and best practice
  • Implement integrated QHSE systems aligned with ISO standards
  • Report KPIs and performance to senior leadership
  • Promote behavioural safety and continuous improvement culture

Quality Management

  • Maintain QA systems and improvement tools (process mapping, 6S, VSM, quality circles)
  • Manage audits (internal, customer, external) and certifications
  • Ensure product compliance, documentation control, and NCR management

Health & Safety

  • Ensure full H&S compliance across operations
  • Oversee risk assessments, safe systems of work, and emergency planning
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions

Environmental Management

  • Ensure ISO 14001 compliance
  • Manage environmental risks (waste, chemicals, pollution prevention)
  • Monitor sustainability and environmental performance

Auditing & Compliance

  • Lead audits and certification processes
  • Implement corrective and preventative actions
  • Liaise with regulators and external auditors


Requirements
Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience leading QHSE in manufacturing/engineering (ideally complex/multi-site)
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 & ISO 14001
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and compliance
  • Proven track record improving QHSE performance

Skills & Attributes

  • Background in heavy engineering, electrical manufacturing, utilities, or energy
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to deliver QHSE strategy supporting operational excellence and growth
