Position: Senior Corrugated Packaging Designer
Location: Cambridgeshire (Hybrid working available 2 days a week)
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
The Company: E-Commerce Packaging Company

The Role:
•    Design Parametrics (CAD standards) of key products such that co-ordinators can adjust size/material.
•    QC/Technical shared responsibility (with CEO) in judgement of “fit for purpose” manufacture.
•    NPD Overall responsibility for approval & development of constructional design, material & artworks:
•    Create optimal CAD drawing and liaise with technical co-ordinator to output in proposed material.
•    Improve/validate to ensure fit for purpose on proposed material and/or recommend upgrades.
•    Follow-up samples for approval or gain first-hand understanding of client modifications.
•    Follow-up artworks for approval or gain first-hand understanding of client modifications.
•    Maximise profitability by means of efficient manufacturing laydowns within machine limitations.
•    Proficient in the use of CAD & design software; IMPACT, Illustrator, Photoshop.
•    Corrugated technical expertise to ensure of best suited material & design to avoid damage in transit.
•    Deckle Optimisation for special makings.
•    Drop-testing (e.g., ISTA3a) and awareness of ECT/BCT properties to overcome. 
•    Supervise Commercial-Technical Specialist & re-organise inefficiencies in CAD dept and approval processes.
•    Ease of Manufacture – Liaising with factory to ensure speed, efficiency & smooth running of production. 
•    CAD excellence. Ensuring CAD team provides excellent experiences to best represent the company brand.
•    Enhance branded lock-up on an ongoing basis e.g., FSC/Recy/Sustainability logos.
•    Ongoing product & Process improvement.
•    Support Sales team to close bespoke opportunities with values ranging £5,000 - £1,000,000
•    Attend meetings online (rarely on-site but encouraged) supported by Outlook/Zoom/Teams/Calendly
•    Log project efficiently (max 100 characters) ensuring CRM (SPOCS) well-maintained.
•    Encourage design team attend Exhibitions & relevant training to develop knowledge, techniques, and skills.
•    Adhere company policies & procedures related to Health & Safety, Quality & Management

Requirements:
•    Advanced computer skills (IMPACT, Adobe, CAD Parametrics, MS Office, SPOCS MIS)
•    Common desire to eradicate single-use plastics from ecommerce
•    Highly motivated and able to work effectively under own initiative. 
•    Confident in liaising with company Owners/Directors and prestigious blue-chip companies.
•    Ability to challenge / persuade prospect if design hurdles need overcoming
•    Excellent commercial acumen
•    Superb telephone manner & communication skills (e.g. LinkedIn / Zoom / teams)
•    Quick thinker with very strong interpersonal skills. 
•    Team Player with positive mindset & care of their work, clients & colleagues.
•    Confident and able to engage with internal and external stakeholders. 
•    Pro-active work ethic
•    Organized and efficient. 
•    Able to commute reliably on/off the company’s premises 
•    A clean driving license is preferred.
