Maintenance Engineer – Food Manufacturing (FMCG) | Evening & Nights - 8 hr shifts

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of food production machinery within a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment. Working as part of a high-performing engineering team, you will be responsible for both reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM), while supporting operational performance, minimising downtime, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and breakdown repairs to minimise production downtime
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery and site equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve both electrical and mechanical faults efficiently
  • Support machinery upgrades, installations, and factory improvement projects
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance machine reliability, reduce speed losses, and improve operational efficiency
  • Work closely with production teams to optimise equipment performance and maximise output
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, service logs, and compliance records
  • Support site-wide facilities maintenance, including factory services, utilities, and infrastructure

Essential Requirements:

  • Multi-skilled engineering background with both electrical and mechanical experience
  • Previous experience within FMCG or manufacturing environments
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across production equipment
  • Good understanding of health & safety practices within manufacturing environments
  • Experience working with food production equipment such as baggers, weighers, checkweighers, slicers, conveyors, shakers, and robotics
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced production environment

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Project management experience including planning, budgeting, specification writing, and ordering
  • Root Cause Analysis / 5 Whys methodology training
  • Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing knowledge
  • TIG welding and basic fabrication skills
  • Spare parts management and stock control
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification
