Teacher of Science (Chemistry Specialist)

Are you a passionate scientist with the ability to spark curiosity in the classroom? We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join our vibrant secondary school community in Gateshead for a fixed-term maternity cover.

While we welcome applications from all science specialisms, we have a particular interest in candidates with a Chemistry focus who can deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential for KS5 for the right candidate).

The Role

As a Science Specialist, you will be responsible for:

• Planning and delivering creative, practical-based lessons that align with the National Curriculum.

• Inspiring students of all abilities to achieve their full potential in the sciences.

• Managing a classroom environment that encourages safety, inquiry, and academic excellence.

• Contributing to the wider life of the school and the development of the Science Department.

What We’re Looking For

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): This is essential.

• Subject Expertise: A strong background in Science, ideally with a degree or specialism in Chemistry.

• Adaptability: The ability to hit the ground running and build strong relationships with students and staff quickly.

• Commitment: A teacher who is dedicated to the full academic year (Sept '26 - July '27) to ensure continuity for our learners.
