Catering and Learning Support Assistant - Alternative Provision - Full Time

Are you a reliable, proactive and hands-on individual looking for a rewarding full-time role in a supportive alternative provision setting?

Tradewind Recruitment is pleased to be recruiting for a Catering and Learning Support Assistant to work at an Alternative Provision in Swadlincote. This is a full-time position working hours per week, 8:10am - 3:50pm Monday to Wednesday, 8:10am to 4:10pm Thursday and 8:10am to 3:40pm Friday, starting as soon as possible, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

This is a varied role within a small, close-knit school setting, combining catering responsibilities with classroom support, so we are looking for someone who is flexible, adaptable and ready to fully immerse themselves in school life.

The Role:

  • Preparing and distributing breakfast, break-time snacks and lunch to pupils
  • Managing food service efficiently and maintaining hygiene standards
  • Minimal food preparation required, as food is delivered from another school
  • Ensuring a clean and organised kitchen and serving area
  • Supporting pupils during meal times where required
  • Working as a Teaching Assistant in between catering duties, supporting in food technology lessons
  • Assisting students on a 1:1 or small group basis within lessons
  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning
  • Working collaboratively as part of a small, dedicated staff team
  • Getting fully involved in all aspects of school life as required

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience working in a school setting or similar environment (desirable)
  • Experience in a catering, kitchen or food service role (desirable)
  • A positive, friendly and approachable personality
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively across a varied role
  • Confidence supporting young people in a classroom environment
  • A flexible, adaptable and proactive approach
  • A genuine team player who is willing to "get stuck in" wherever needed
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
