Senior Project Manager – £70m New Build School.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join a leading main contractor delivering a landmark £70 million new build education project in Wakefield.

This high-profile scheme will involve the delivery of a state-of-the-art secondary school campus incorporating modern teaching facilities, sports amenities, external works, and complex stakeholder management throughout the construction lifecycle.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for managing the project from pre-construction through to handover, ensuring programme, quality, commercial, and health & safety objectives are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of a major education construction project
  • Manage site teams, subcontractors, consultants, and client stakeholders
  • Drive programme performance and project milestones
  • Ensure compliance with H&S, quality, and contractual requirements
  • Monitor budgets, risk, procurement, and reporting
  • Maintain strong client relationships throughout delivery

Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering large-scale construction projects (£30m+)
  • Main contractor background essential
  • Education sector experience preferred
  • Strong NEC/JCT contractual knowledge
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Degree/HNC qualified in Construction or related discipline
