Quality Engineer

Location - Abingdon

Up to £55,00

Monday-Thursday: 08:00-16:30Friday: 08:00-15:30

Principal Purpose of Job (including main objectives)

To deliver professional quality engineering service to the business with primary focus on Manufacturing Quality control requirements.

  1. Desirable Qualifications, Experience & Training.

Essential:

A minimum of FIVE years recent experience as a Quality Engineer or equivalent related function.

PC literate with competence in Microsoft Office.

Ability to train employees in quality related subjects.

Sound knowledge of inspection techniques, including:

  • the ability to interpret complex mechanical engineering drawings and determine appropriate measuring techniques.
  • the ability to produce credible inspection and associated reports.

Good Project Management and liaising regularly with both customers and suppliers.

Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship.

Preferred:

Good knowledge of programming CMMs, supported by a certificate of competence in CMM programming issued by the CMM manufacturer or agent. PC-DMIS programming ability.

PC-DMIS Level 2.

CMM: Hexagon S Chrome with tactile & laser heads

ISO 9000 Auditor qualification

  1. Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Liaising with Customers and Suppliers on quality related issues

  1. Manufacturing liaison and reporting shortfalls to Manufacturing supervision.

  1. Training Operators in all aspects of inspection techniques and equipment. Including the preparation of inspection equipment work instruction.

  1. Assisting in effective management of the entire measurement and test equipment

calibration system.

  1. Setting of adjustable M&TE for use by Manufacturing Operators.

  1. Recommending and pursuing (when sanctioned) improvements to both Inspection and Quality techniques and equipment.

  1. Translation of Customer quality requirements into detailed Manufacturing

  1. Compiling routine final inspection trend analysis and reports.

  1. Compilation of Inspection report blanks.

  1. Managing Non-Conformances and Customer Complaints through 8Ds/5Whys

  1. Compilation and submission of various Customer documentation packs

  1. System and process audits up to completion as scheduled.

  1. Supplier audits including reporting and recommendations.

  1. Customer & Supplier liaison on specific quality issues.

  1. Creation of Quality Control Plans/LTQRS on specific customer projects.

  1. Other related duties as determined by Operations Director

No parts waiting final inspection for longer than 24 hours.

Completion of audits as scheduled
