About the Role
Wiltshire Council is seeking an experienced Brokerage Officer to join its social care team in Trowbridge.
In this fast-paced role, you will be responsible for sourcing care services and placements that meet the needs and outcomes of customers, working closely with social care colleagues, commissioners, and service providers. You will play a key role in ensuring value for money, efficient service delivery, and timely decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source and secure care services and placements in line with assessed needs
  • Work collaboratively with social workers, commissioners, and providers
  • Ensure services are commissioned in a cost-effective and timely manner
  • Challenge and influence decisions to ensure best value outcomes
  • Manage multiple referrals in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with processes and timescales
  • Support the development of a centralised brokerage function
Working Arrangements Wiltshire Council operates a hybrid working model:
  • Office-based staff: on-site for at least 50% of working hours
  • Community-based staff: complete at least 50% of admin tasks in a workplace
  • Customer-facing roles: based fully at service delivery locations
Requirements
  • Experience in social care brokerage, commissioning, or placements
  • Strong understanding of adult or children’s social care services
  • Ability to negotiate and secure value-for-money services
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage changing demands
  • Confident in challenging decisions to improve outcomes
