Section Maintenance Engineer - Heavy Engineering
We are looking for a Section Maintenance Engineer to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production plant within a heavy industrial steelmaking environment. You will be responsible for maintaining key assets, minimising downtime, and driving continuous improvement in a fast‑paced, safety‑critical operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance and respond effectively to breakdowns.
- Fault‑find and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Take ownership of assigned plant and equipment, including cranes and heavy machinery.
- Lead improvement activities to enhance reliability, safety, and performance.
- Supervise contractors and ensure compliance with site safety standards.
- Record work and manage spares using a CMMS (e.g. SAP).
- Ensure all work complies with LOLER, PUWER, and site safety procedures.
Requirements
- NVQ/ C&G/HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in steel, heavy engineering or other other manufacturing such as Aerospace, Nuclear, Defence, Oil & Gas, Automotive etc
- Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
- Safety‑focused approach with good communication skills.
- 18th Edition would be advantageous
