Workshop Recruitment is working with a well-established organisation seeking a Junior Lighting Designer to join its design team in Portsmouth. This is an excellent opportunity for a Junior Lighting Designer looking to develop their career within a supportive environment where training and professional development are encouraged.
The successful Junior Lighting Designer will support a variety of lighting projects, working closely with internal teams and clients to create functional and visually appealing lighting solutions. This role offers exposure to both new-build and refurbishment projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and coordinate lighting projects from concept through to completion.
- Produce drawings, schedules, and plans using CAD and related software.
- Develop lighting layouts, specifications, and control strategies.
- Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and customer-facing teams.
- Attend site visits and present design concepts and solutions.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation and industry standards.
- Build and maintain positive client relationships.
- Prepare specification sheets and supporting project documentation.
Skills & Knowledge Required
- Basic understanding of mathematical concepts.
- Strong design and technical abilities.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Interest in interior design and lighting design.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Relux is desirable but not essential as training is provided.
