Appointed Person for Lifting Operations



Purpose of the Role


The Appointed Person is responsible for the safe planning, coordination, and execution of lifting operations on the nuclear site, ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations and preventing accidents through risk assessment and supervision.



Key Responsibilities



Planning & Coordination

  • Prepare and review lifting plans.
  • Ensure lifting operations comply with approved methods and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with crane operators, riggers, supervisors, and other personnel.


Inspection & Certification

  • Verify lifting equipment is inspected and certified.
  • Ensure certifications remain valid before work begins.


Supervision & Execution

  • Oversee lifting operations on site.
  • Ensure personnel are trained and competent.
  • Monitor operations from start to finish.
  • Ensure adherence to lifting plans and procedures.


Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with regulations including:
    • LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998)
  • Maintain records of:
    • Lifting operations
    • Risk assessments
    • Method statements
    • Equipment inspections
    • Lifting plans
  • Report and address safety concerns and unsafe practices.


Salary & Benefits

  • Competitive salary (experience dependent).
  • Contract duration: TBC.
