About us

At ScottishPower we know that our people are our strongest asset, so we are always looking for individuals whose energy, intelligence and passion can help us reach our goals.

At the heart of all business visions and activities are the people whose individual efforts and performance make it happen. We encourage our people to be proud of where they work, to share their ideas and to own their careers.

We promote a safe working environment and push people to shape and progress their careers so that we grow our talent within the company.

We are able to continue our recruitment drive because the demand for energy keeps growing. As well as this, our investment in our network and continual search for innovative ways to generate and distribute energy means we can offer a wide range of exciting careers in a stable industry.

Business Areas:

ENERGY RETAIL

Our Retail business supplies gas and electricity to over 5 million households and businesses across the UK.

We work hard to deliver competitive gas and electricity rates and tariffs, as well as products and services that put you in control of your energy - from boiler cover to our remote heating control solution.

GENERATION

Our Generation business ensures we have enough power to continue delivering the energy needed. We deliver competitive energy from across our generation portfolio of coal, hydro, gas and biomass generation, while minimising the environmental impact.

Generation is organised around its physical assets. These include gas and, as a company with an acute sense of the bigger picture, other forward thinking ways of providing power such as hydro-electric power stations, CCGT power stations and our Daldowie sludge processing plant near Glasgow, which manufactures fuel pellets from sewage sludge.

ENERGY MANAGEMENT

Global Energy Management is a global business unit that sits alongside the three regional business areas within the Group Liberalised Business.

The unit is charged with carrying out the energy management for the whole Group Liberalised Business assets, as well as trading operations in energy products in different markets. It is a global activity with the main goal of optimising the energy margin of the business.

RENEWABLES

ScottishPower Renewables is part of Iberdrola, one of the world’s largest utilities and the leading wind energy producer. Committed to sustainable value creation for all stakeholders Iberdrola has a renewables capacity of over 24,900 megawatts (MW). Managing the global offshore wind business from Glasgow, ScottishPower Renewables is responsible for progressing onshore wind and marine energy projects in the UK and offshore windfarms throughout the world, managing the development, construction and operation of all projects.

NETWORKS

SP Energy Networks is part of the ScottishPower Group of companies. We provide power on behalf of supply companies through a network of cables and power lines that we own and maintain.

We do it responsibly. We do it with respect for people and for the environment. We do it looking at the long term, not just today. We do it innovatively.

We're dedicated to delivering a safe and reliable electricity supply to all of our customers 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Through our transmission and distribution network we provide power to customers in Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and North Shropshire as well as Central and Southern Scotland.

CORPORATE

Our Corporate business is responsible for providing support services for all other ScottishPower businesses.
